About Us

We are a family with over 125 year's experience owning and operating manufacturing businesses. Big 7 Ventures ("B7V") is our private equity investment arm, named after the family's Big 7 Ranch near the Central Coast of California.

We are dedicated exclusively to areas that are often ignored by traditional private equity firms, including basic manufacturing, transportation/logistics, and services that support and sell into the construction industry.

We are solely in the business of buying smaller entrepreneur and family-owned businesses (please see our Investment Criteria page). We seek to meet the financial and personal needs of sellers while at the same time putting our companies on the path to future success.

We are not afraid of Turnaround and "Heavy Lift" situations. B7V has had success with companies in otherwise healthy industries that haven't grown with their market segment or have operating margins that don't reflect the business's true potential.

We are not in the "deal volume" business. We would like to make 1-3 investments per year.

We are patient, dedicated investors with decades of experience providing strategic and operational support to our management teams. We measure our success by the long-term growth and development of our companies and their people.

We work to earn the right to be our management partners' first call and prefer "outbound" calls from our management teams (with good or not-so-good news for us) instead of regular "check-in" calls from us.

Outside of private equity, the family is active in real estate, and maintains its original ownership in an NFL franchise ... a history we are proud of.
